Indie VS Major!

Many might ask, why not just try getting a deal with a major label? Well, for those who did ask here it goes. Being an independent musician is a great way for you to be free, “Independent” means “FREEDOM” for many musicians. Musicians work hard everyday so that they can deliver the best of their talents to their fans. Day and night in the studio composing and recording, not getting enough sleep, traveling and not being around their families and friends are just a few things that musicians go through. You might ask yourself, “Well, if it’s that stressful why do it?” but when it all comes down to it, at the end of the day it’s about the love for the music. Independent musicians can care less about the fame, money, and all the glamour that we have been brainwashed to believe of what is really music. Major labels are more interested in the money then the music, every musician or producer is a ticket of fast cash for them. While exhausting the artist, major labels don’t appreciate the value of an artist paying them a dollar or two if lucky for every CD sold by the artist. In most cases, the artist will have to end up owing the major label if the sales of the record did not exceed the amount projected by the major labels. Meaning, the major labels invest in the artist on videos, advertisements, promotions, studio time, advancements, producers etc.. All the money spent by the major label will be taking of CD sales, so if the artist does not sale enough CD’S the artist will be dropped by the label with a fat bill! We have to remember that it is not about the money but the art of music, the sounds that make us heal, love, cry, happy, dance, and LIVE! Independent artists have to make some type of income so that they can continue to work hard full time to give you the music that you love to hear, and that is why they sale their music to cover the expenses of electric bills, equipment, CD’S, and gas to go perform in your city. After all the hard work why give it to the major labels so that they can treat your music like garbage and put a price tag on your life! Go Indie!
